Ito commented, "When I was approached about collaborating with Sanrio characters, I wondered why someone so scary like me would be chosen, but my wife and daughter love Sanrio products. I jumped at the opportunity because I wanted to help boost my father's stock. When I actually started drawing, I was reminded once again that the cuteness of Hello Kitty and the other characters is the result of exquisite design. I was in awe of the sense and learned a lot from it."

The "Junji Ito x Sanrio Characters POP UP STORE", which will sell collaborative goods, will open for a limited time from August 23rd to September 9th at Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo and from September 27th to October 14th at Shinsaibashi PARCO in Osaka.
