Ranma 1/2: The first new TV anime in 32 years will start in October Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, and Noriko Hidaka reprising their roles as voice actors

It was announced on July 17th that a completely new anime version of Rumiko Takahashi 's hit manga "Ranma 1/2" will be broadcast as a TV anime on Nippon TV every Saturday at 12:55am starting October 5th. It will be broadcast nationwide on Nippon TV affiliates and will be exclusively streamed on Netflix immediately after broadcast. The TV anime version of the series was broadcast from 1989 to 1992, and this will be the first time it has been adapted into a TV anime in about 32 years. It was also announced that the voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi as Ranma Saotome, Megumi Hayashibara as Ranma, and Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo will continue to play their roles. The anime will be directed by Konosuke Uda has worked on "One Piece" and other works, and will be produced by MAPPA, which has worked on "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man".

Minami Takayama who played Nabiki Tendou, Kikuko Inoue who played Kasumi Tendou, Koichi Yamadera who played Ryoga Hibiki, and Rei Sakuma who played Shampoo will also continue. Ryusuke Obayashi's Soun Tendo role will be played by Akio Otsuka, Kenichi Ogata's Saotome Genma will be taken over by Cho, and Ogata will narrate.

It was also announced that singer Ano will be performing the opening theme. Ano said, "All the characters are unique, and I thought the exchanges between Ranma and Akane were really cute and not straightforward. I was also jealous that he turned into a panda when splashed with water," and "I'm honored to be performing the opening theme for a work that is loved by so many people. I've created a song that fits the worldview of 'Ranma 1/2,' so please look forward to it."

Ranma 1/2 was serialized in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) from 1987 to 1996 by Takahashi, who is also known for Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku. It depicts the Akane Tendo daily life of high school martial artist Ranma Saotome who turns into a woman when splashed with water, and his fiancee Tendo Akane. While training in the indiscriminate fighting style with his father Genma, Ranma develops a unique constitution in China, where he trains in Jusenkyo, where he turns into a woman when splashed with water and reverts to a man when splashed with hot water. When Ranma returns to Japan, he and his son end up staying at the home of Genma 's best friend Soun Tendo, and by chance he becomes engaged to Soun's daughter Akane.

The total number of comics published is over 55 million. An anime movie was released and an original video animation (OVA) was also produced.

A television anime series was broadcast on Fuji TV and other channels from 1989 to 1992, and a live-action television drama starring Yui Aragaki, Kento Kaku, and Natsuna was broadcast in December 2011, which also attracted much attention.
