The first volume was also a hot topic as Kohei Horikoshi of "My Hero Academia" commented highly, "I am amazed every week at the way he creates compositions that make it seem as if I am watching a movie. He is someone who knows what is cool." Singer-songwriter Vaundy wrote a recommendation for the second volume. Vaundy commented, "He is a swordsmith who can bring out the allure of swords. The way the main character fights, as if swimming, transforms the battlefield into a stage."

"Kagurabachi" is a story about Chihiro, a young boy who aspires to become a swordsmith, who trains hard every day, but one day tragedy befalls him.
