Hikaru no Go: Stage adaptation decided to premiere in July Yojiro Itokawa playing Hikaru Shindo and Koji Kominami playing Fujiwara no Sai

It has been revealed that the popular manga "Hikaru no Go," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be adapted for the stage. It will be performed at Sunshine Theater (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) from July 5th to 14th. The main cast has also been announced, with actors Itokawa Yoshiro playing Hikaru Shindo and Koji Kominami playing Fujiwara no Sai. Teru Ikuta will play Akari Fujisaki, and Akio Hirose will play Koyo Toya.

"Hikaru no Go" is a manga about the game of Go written by Yumi Hotta and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1999 to 2003. It won the 45th Shogakukan Manga Award and the 7th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize New Generation Award.

The stage version will be directed and written by Nobuhiro Mori (musical "Black Butler" and stage "Durarara!!"), and choreographed and staged by Shinnosuke Motoyama (musical "Black Butler" and "Touken Ranbu"). Shunsuke Wada, who has worked on the "Haikyu!!" series, will be in charge of the music, and Mitsuhiro Akiyama, who has worked on the stage play "Touken Ranbu," will be in charge of the art.
