Kaiju No. 8: New visual of Kafka and others defense members gathering

The key visual for the anime "Kaiju No. 8," based on the popular manga by Naoya Matsumoto currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," has been released. It features the main character, Kafka Hibino, and other members of the Japan Defense Force. The accompanying copy reads, "Defeat the threat and open up the future."

The main staff was also announced. Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya will serve as directors, and Ichiro Okochi will be in charge of series composition and screenplay. Mahiro Maeda handles the monster design. Yuta Bando will be in charge of the music.

"Kaiju No. 8" has been serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since July 2020. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino whose body has been transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also attracted attention in 2021 when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." The comic has sold over 11 million copies in total.

The anime will be produced by Production I.G, which is responsible for the ``Ghost in the Shell'' series, and Studio Color, which is responsible for the ``Evangelion: Rebuild of Evangelion'' series, will be in charge of ``kaiju design and works.'' Katsuya Fukunishi will play the main character, Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8, and Wataru Kato and Asami Seto will also appear as voice actors. It will be broadcast from April 2024.
