It has been revealed that the latest chapter, chapter 401, of Yoshihiro Togashi's popular manga "HUNTER×HUNTER," which is currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be published in the magazine's 45th issue, which will be released on October 7th. This will be the first time the work has been published in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in about a year and nine months, since the magazine's combined 4th and 5th issue of 2023, which was released in December 2022. The series announced that it would change its publication format from chapter 401 onwards in the combined April/May 2023 issue of the magazine, where chapter 400 was published. Taking into consideration Togashi's physical condition, after chapter 401 onwards, "after discussing with the author and the editorial department, we have decided to deliver the series to everyone in a format other than a weekly serialization."

"HUNTER x HUNTER" depicts the adventures of a young boy named Gon, who leaves his hometown to become a professional hunter, just like his father, who he left when he was young, and his friends, including Killua, who grew up in an assassin family. The series began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 1998. It was adapted into a TV anime series in 1999, and a second anime version with a new staff and cast aired on Nippon TV from 2011 to 2014. The comic series has sold over 84 million copies in total.

The series had been serialised with occasional hiatuses, but was put on hiatus in March 2012, just as the author had begun a new episode after finishing the "Election Arc" which followed the "Ant Arc". It resumed serialisation in June 2014 after a hiatus of around two years and three months, but was put on hiatus again in August of the same year due to the author's back pain. It resumed serialisation in April 2016 after a hiatus of around one year and eight months, but was put on hiatus again in July of the same year. It has been on and off repeatedly, with hiatuses from July 2016 to June 2017, from September 2017 to January 2018, and from April to September 2018.

In October 2022, the series resumed serialization after a hiatus of about three years and eleven months, with chapter 391 being published. Since then, chapters 392 to 400 have been published, and the publication format has changed from chapter 401 onwards.
