Details of Hollywood live-action version of “One Piece” Season 2 released

With the upcoming release of season 2 of the Hollywood live-action drama series "ONE PIECE," a popular manga by Eiichiro Oda currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), on Netflix, a handwritten letter from Oda, the original author, has been made public, revealing the setting for the adventures depicted in season 2. It has been revealed that the adventures will be set in Rogue Town, Reverse Mountain (Twin Capes), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island, and Oda has written, "I can't contain my excitement!!"

In Season 2, Luffy and his friends, who have become wanted criminals, will each set their own dreams aside and set out on the Grand Line. Oda commented, "We all have the same feelings! As with the last time, they have promised me that they will not release the work until I am satisfied. This is actually not a "contract" but a "verbal promise". I want you to understand how amazing and determined they are to keep this promise! And their ability to turn it into a movie is incredible! I can't wait!"

"The Grand Line is an ever-expanding world!! Where is that country based on?! How can we link it to reality?! Just the unique cast that has inevitably come together from all over the world is enough to make me excited at the thought that the adventure has begun!!" he continued.

Regarding unreleased information, he said, "We've still not announced who Vivi is!? What about Miss All Sunday!? What about Chopper!? We can't announce everything at once, but from tomorrow we will be announcing more cast members over the three days, on August 21st, 22nd, and 23rd! Please stay tuned, and look forward to further updates in the future!!"

The live-action drama will be produced by Hollywood's Tomorrow Studios, which has produced dramas such as "Cowboy Bebop" and "Snowpiercer," with Oda, the original author, participating as executive producer. Inaki Godoy will play Luffy and Mackenyu will play Zoro. Other cast members include Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

Season 1 began streaming on Netflix on August 31, 2023. Set in Luffy's hometown, the East Blue, it depicts the battle between Luffy and his friends and rough pirates such as Buggy and Arlong, and the origins of the Straw Hat Pirates' adventure. Season 2 will be exclusively available on Netflix soon.

◇Full comment from Eiichiro Oda

Season 2!! Yes, the Hollywood version of "ONE PIECE" is in the works. Filming has also started. Story-wise, it includes "Rogue Town", "Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape)", "Whiskey Peak", "Little Garden", and "Drum Island"!! Think about it. It's going to cost a lot of money!! (laughs). However, I'm going to be selfish and insist on the script and the cast!! In response, the showrunner Matt, Netflix, and Tomorrow Studios are at their wits' end! We've become so close in season 1. But everyone has the same feelings! As with the last time, they promised not to release the work until I'm satisfied. This is actually not a "contract" but a "verbal promise". I want you to understand the amazingness and spirit of these people who are keeping it!! And their solid ability to visualize it!! I can't help but look forward to it!! The cast that has been announced one after another is summarized on the official X, so check it out.
