Box office results: "Inside Out 2" tops the charts in its second week of release

According to the movie attendance rankings for the 9th to 11th of August announced on August 13th (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha), Disney & Pixar's animated feature film "Inside Out 2" (directed by Kelsey Mann) took the top spot in its second week of release. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted around 391,000 people and grossed around 522 million yen, a figure that was almost unchanged from the previous weekend. As of August 12th, the cumulative total has reached 1.56 million people and over 2 billion yen in box office revenue.

Among the debut works, the latest film in the popular anime series "Crayon Shin-chan Crayon Shin-chan: Our Dinosaur Diary" (directed by Shinobu Sasaki), the 31st film in the series, ranked second. In the three days since its release, it attracted approximately 365,000 viewers and grossed approximately 455 million yen. In the four days up to August 12, it attracted approximately 510,000 viewers and grossed approximately 636 million yen, which is about 130% higher than the four days of the release of "Crayon Shin-chan Shin-chan: The Movie: Supernatural Battle - Tobetobe Hand Rolled Sushi", which was released in August 2023 and recorded the highest hit in the history of the film series, and it is in sight of breaking the record.

In addition, the second part of the theatrical compilation "Theatrical Compilation Bocchi the Rock! Re:/Re:Re:" (directed by Saito Keiichiro), the theatrical compilation of the TV anime "Bocchi the Rock!", which is based on the four-panel manga by Hamaji Aki currently serialized in "Manga Time Kirara MAX" (Houbunsha), came in at 6th place, while "Blue Period" (directed by Keiichiro Saito Kentaro), a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by Yamaguchi Tsubasa currently serialized in "Monthly Afternoon" (Kodansha), starring actor Gordon Maeda, made its debut in 8th place.

The animated film "My Hero Academia: You're Next" (directed by Tensai Okamura), which debuted in first place last week, is now in third place, attracting 232,000 viewers and earning 346 million yen over the three-day weekend. In the 11 days since its release, it has attracted 1.22 million viewers and earned over 1.7 billion yen. In fourth place, "Despicable Me 3" (directed by Chris Renaud and co-directed by Patrick DeLarge) has attracted 2.49 million viewers and earned over 3.1 billion yen, making it the first foreign film released this year to surpass the 3 billion yen mark. Now in its fifth week since its release, "Kingdom: Return of the General" (directed by Sato Shinsuke), which is in fifth place this year, has attracted 4.16 million viewers and earned 6.1 billion yen, making it the highest-grossing film of its series.
