The Rose of Versailles: Collaboration with Sanrio Hello Kitty transform into Oscar!

It has been announced that the new animated film version of Riyoko Ikeda's classic manga "The Rose of Versailles" will be collaborating with Sanrio characters. A new animated film will be released about 50 years after the serialization began in 1972, "The Rose of Versailles," and will collaborate with Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. A visual of the collaboration, in which Sanrio characters are dressed as "BELVARA" characters, has been unveiled.

The collaboration visual is based on the teaser visual for the animated film "The Rose of Versailles," with Hello Kitty transforming into a cross-dressing beauty named Oscar and My Melody into Marie Antoinette. Hello Kitty and her childhood friend Dear Daniel are transformed into Oscar 's childhood friend Andre, and Pochacco is transformed into Fersen. Collaboration goods are also planned for release in the future.

"The Rose of Versailles" is a manga masterpiece by Ikeda that was serialized in "Weekly Margaret" (Shueisha) from 1972 to 1973. It is set during the French Revolution in the late 18th century and beautifully depicts the love and life of Oscar, a beautiful woman who dresses as a man, and Marie Antoinette an innocent queen who came to France from neighboring Austria.

The movie will be directed by Ai Yoshimura known for "Ao Haru Ride" and "Cheer Boys!!", and produced by MAPPA, known for "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man". Miyuki Sawashiro will Oscar, Aya Hirano will play Marie Antoinette, Toshiyuki Toyonaga will play Andre, and Kazuki Kato will play Fersen. It will be released in the New Year of 2025.
