Mei Nagano & Takeru Satoh: Double lead role in live-action movie "Cells at Work!" Co-starring since Asadora

It has been revealed that actors Mei Nagano and Takeru Satoh will co-star in the film "Cells at Work" (directed by Hideki Takeuchi, to be released in December). The film is a live-action adaptation of Akane Shimizu 's manga, which features characters that are personified human cells. Nagano will play a red blood cell, and Takeru Satoh will play a white blood cell. This will be the first time Nagano and Sato have worked together since the NHK Asadora drama "Hanbun, Aoi" which aired in 2018.

At a production announcement held in Tokyo on the same day, Nagano reflected on the unexpected reunion, saying of Satoh, "It had been about six years since I last met Takeru, and he looked completely blank (laughs). It was a serious scene, but I couldn't stop laughing, so it was difficult."

In response to Nagano's comment, Satoh said, "I think Nagano's red blood cell was interesting because it was pure white, but surprisingly, Nagano's red blood cell is more interesting. His hair was a little messy. And what's with that hat (laughs)." Nagano smiled and said, "Isn't it cute?" Satoh also replied with a smile, "It was really cute. (The red blood cell's fun) gradually grows on you."
