On June 11, TV Asahi announced that it will air "SKY Castle" starring Nao Matsushita in its Thursday drama (Thursdays at 9 p.m.) slot for the July season. The drama is a remake of the hit Korean drama "SKY Castle - Wives of the Upper Class" (2018-19). Fumino Kimura, Manami Higa, Maryjun Takahashi, and Koyuki will also be appearing. It depicts the "swamp battle" between celebrity wives living in an upscale residential area.

The original "SKY Castle - Upper Class Wives" is a suspense drama depicting the fierce competition and complex human relationships that take place in the high-end residential area of SKY Castle. The viewership rating for the first broadcast in Korea was 1.7%, but it gradually gained popularity and the final episode recorded a viewership rating of 23.8%. It broke the all-time record for viewership ratings on non-terrestrial channels at the time and became a huge hit.

The production team is SLL, a major Korean studio that brought you the global hit "Itaewon Class" (2020). This time, the production team of "Roppongi Class" (TV Asahi, 2022), a Japanese remake of "Itaewon Class," will team up with SLL again.

The script will be written by Hiroshi Hashimoto, who is known for Fuji TV's "Shomuni" and "Water Boys" series, TBS's Sunday Theatre "Japan Sinks: People of Hope" (2021), and the film "Phases of the Moon" (2022).
