Urusei Yatsura: The Final Chapter "Boy Meets Girl Arc" Begins Yuichi Nakamura Plays Rupa, Minase Inori and Cho Also Appear

It has been announced that the all-new TV anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi 's popular manga "Urusei Yatsura" will enter its final chapter, "Boy Meets Girl Arc," on May 30th. A visual of the final chapter featuring a large profile of Lum has also been released. In Lum's eyes, Ataru is seen wearing his running uniform during the "tag" game at the beginning of the story. Additional cast members have also been announced, including Yuichi Nakamura as Lum's fiancee Rupa, Inori Minase as Rupa's childhood friend Carla, and Cho as Rupa's great-grandfather Upa.

Nakamura commented, "When it comes to Takahashi Sensei's works, I'm from the generation that grew up with Ranma 1/2, but I've gone back from there to Maison Ikkoku and this work. Each series has the same unique vibe and tension, and I think that this is what has the appeal of being able to hook and absorb people of all generations. Of all the series, I felt that Urusei Yatsura Yatsura was the origin, or the basis of that."

He added, "One of the distinctive features of this character is his dialect. Maintaining those expressions while creating a fun character was both challenging and enjoyable. Playing a character who wreaks havoc in a story full of Takahashi-sensei's signature style was truly entertaining. It made me appreciate all the various works I've seen."

Minase said, "My mother's younger brother was a big fan of Lum, and I remember there was a poster of her hanging in our house. I was a child at the time and was a little embarrassed by the amount of Lum's skin color, but I would glance at her every time I went home." She expressed her joy at being in the role, saying, "It was very difficult to get the dialect right, which was bold and easygoing, but was contrary to her cute appearance. At the same time, I found it fun and rewarding to see how powerful she is, as the center of the storm that draws the main characters in, and how she can completely change the atmosphere of a scene."

Cho also shared his thoughts, "I loved Lum-chan's sexy vibe when I was a student. The pervy laughter was tough to nail because it requires a specific breath control, but I enjoyed it immensely."

``Urusei Yatsura'' is one of the masterpieces of Takahashi, who is also known for `` Maison Ikkoku,'' ``Ranma 1/2,'' and ``Inuyasha.'' Takahashi made her debut with ``Katte na Yatsura'' in 1978, and ``Urusei Yatsura'' was serialized in ``Weekly Shonen Sunday'' (Shogakukan) from 1978 to 1987. The story depicts the daily lives of Ataru Moroboshi, a high school student, and Lum, a demon girl who came to Earth. The TV anime was broadcast on Fuji TV from October 1981 to March 1986.

The new anime will be a four-season TV anime series made up of selected episodes from the original work, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan, the publisher of the series. It will be directed by Takahashi Hideya and Kimura Yasuhiro, who have worked on "JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE: Golden Wind," and produced by David Production. The first season aired over two consecutive seasons from October 2022. The second season has been airing on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "Noitamina" since January.
