Grendizer U: TV anime to start in July New PV reveals Grendizer, Mazinger Z, and Zeoladizer

It has been announced that the TV anime "Grendizer U", a reboot of the TV anime "UFO Robot Grendizer" based on the original work by Go Nagai, will be broadcast on TV Tokyo and other stations from July. A new PV featuring the opening theme "Kaishin no Ichogeki" by the band "GLAY" has also been released on YouTube, featuring Grendizer, Mazinger Z, and Zeoladizer.

Visuals of the mechanics were also released, including the assault landing type saucer beast, Saucer Beast DomuDomu, the two-axis crushing type saucer beast, Saucer Beast Godagoda, the Motherburn-class 7th ship for space subjugation, Vegastar, the Starker Knights' mount that controls the wind, Zeoladizer, the disc-shaped support unit that combines with Zeoladizer, Zeolaspizer, the Starker Knights' mount that controls the water, Aquadizer, and the disc-shaped support unit that combines with Aquadizer, Aquaspizer.

The cast for the members of the Photon Power Laboratory Observatory has also been announced, with Shinya Takahashi playing Hayashi, Riho Sugiyama playing Yamada, Hironori Kondo playing Saeki, and Sora Tokui playing Oi.

"UFO Robot Grendizer" is the third installment of Nagai's "Mazinger" series, following "Mazinger Z" and "Great Mazinger." It depicts alien Duke Freed piloting the giant robot Grendizer to fight against oncoming evil. It was serialized in "TV Magazine" (Kodansha) from 1975 to 1976, and the TV anime aired from 1975 to 1977. Despite its long run of 74 episodes, the anime recorded an average audience rating of over 20%, and was popular around the world, including in Europe, the Middle East, and South America.

"Grendizer U" will be directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, who has worked on "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" and "Future GPX Cyber Formula," with character design by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who has worked on "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and "Summer Wars." Ichiro Okouchi, who has worked on "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury" and "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion," will be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting, while Kohei Tanaka, who has worked on "One Piece" and the Sakura Wars series, will be in charge of music, bringing together a star-studded staff.
