GTO revival: Number of views of missed broadcasts is the highest ever for a commercial TV drama series! Over 3.7 million views in one week

It was revealed on April 9th that the number of views for the catch-up streaming of "GTO Revival," a special drama to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the launch of Kansai TV and Fuji TV, starring Takashi Sorimachi, which aired on April 1st, exceeded 3.7 million (according to Video Research, TVer and Kantele Douga combined) in the week after it aired, making it the most viewed drama of all time for a private broadcasting one-off drama.

"GTO Revival" is a new special drama that revives the serial drama "GTO" that was broadcast from July to September 1998 for the first time in about 26 years. The legendary teacher Onizuka Eikichi, played by Sorimachi, is appointed as a teacher at the problematic private school Sotoku Gakuin High School, and gives his "Onizuka style" passionate lessons to troubled students.
