Gundam: 45th anniversary planning begins; events to be held in all 47 prefectures from June

It has been announced that the Bandai Namco Group will be holding the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -ROAD TO 2025-" event in Japan's 47 prefectures starting in June to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the popular anime series Gundam. The event is said to be based on the idea of "creating the next future of Gundam together with fans" in the run up to the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025. The event will feature a 1/12 scale Gundam statue in 45th anniversary colors, as well as exhibits of Gundam's works and products, and a sustainability activity called "Operation Gundam R (Recycle)." Admission is free.

The 1/12 scale Gundam statue will be the "EARTH COLOR Ver.", with colors and marks based on the motif of the Earth. As part of the "Gundam R Operation", a special runner (frame for plastic models) collection box exclusive to the event will be set up. If you put the runner into the box, you can enjoy a special video presentation.

The exhibit will focus on characters who have engaged in memorable battles in the series, and will include displays that allow visitors to experience the world and history of the work, as well as dioramas based on the life-size Gundam statues in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Shanghai, and the latest products.

The exhibition project "Gunpla Circles, Stand Up! GUNPLA EXHIBITION" will also be held from August, with the aim of fostering a "Gunpla Community" that connects fans. Some of the works will be exhibited at the venue. The "Gundam Cinema Fest" project, which will show the series in theaters, will be held in conjunction with some of the event's hosting areas.

New illustrations commemorating the 45th anniversary will be released one after another. The first is an illustration of Gundam based on the 24th episode of "Mobile Suit Gundam", "Black Tri-Star", depicting Gundam carrying the new moon on its back.
