It has been announced that the fourth movie in the Kingdom movie series, ``Kingdom: Return of the Great General,'' which is based on a popular manga set during China's Spring and Autumn Warring States Period, will be released on July 12, 2024. Continuing from the third film, ``Kingdom: The Flame of Destiny,'' which was released in July of this year, the film depicts the ``Battle of Mayang,'' an all-out war between the main character Xin (Kento Yamazaki) and the Qin state, and the neighboring state of Zhao. Shinsuke Sato will continue to serve as director, and Tsutomu Kuroiwa and original author Yasuhisa Hara will also be in charge of the screenplay.
In this work, the ferocious forces of Houken, played by Koji Yoshikawa, who appeared as a secret cast member in ``Flames of Fate,'' and Li Mu, played by Shun Oguri, attack the Qin army. In the released teaser video, the words ``The strongest enemy'' and ``The three great heavens are descending'' are shown along with the images of Houken and Li Mu. A teaser visual depicting a large spear held by the Great General of the Qin Kingdom, Wang Qi (Takao Osawa), was also released.
