The third installment of the ``Anime Monster 100 Views'' project of the anime ``Kaiju 8'', which is based on Naoya Matsumoto's popular manga currently being serialized in Shueisha's manga app ``Shonen Jump+'', has been released. It is a project that depicts scenes of everyday life and battles with monsters that are not depicted in the main story, and makes you imagine a world where monsters appear. Starting in August, we have been releasing one new visual every month. The third installment depicts Soushiro Hoshina, vice commander of the 3rd unit of the Japanese Defense Force, in a battle-ready state as he jumps off a building to subjugate a monster. On the roof of the building, Mina Ashiro, the commander of the 3rd unit of the Defense Force, and her partner, Byakko, are also depicted. It represents the two main members of the third unit, Hoshina, who specializes in close combat, and Mina, who specializes in long-range attacks.
"Kaiju No. 8" has been serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since July 2020. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino whose body has been transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also attracted attention in 2021 when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." The comic has sold over 11 million copies in total.
The anime will be produced by Production I.G, which is responsible for the ``Ghost in the Shell'' series, and Studio Color, which is responsible for the ``Evangelion: Rebuild of Evangelion'' series, will be in charge of ``kaiju design and works.'' Katsuya Fukunishi will play the main character, Kafka Hibino/Kaiju No. 8, and Wataru Kato and Asami Seto will also appear as voice actors. It will be broadcast from April 2024.
