"Rurouni Kenshin" is a popular manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999. The film depicts Kenshin Himura, who was feared as the Hitokiri Battousai at the end of the Edo period, as a wanderer who swore not to kill after the Meiji Restoration, searching for a way to live in a new era. The new chapter, ``Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story, Hokkaido Edition,'' has been serialized in the monthly manga magazine ``Jump SQ.'' (Square) since 2017. It also became a hot topic that it was made into a live-action film starring actor Takeru Sato.

The new anime will be completely supervised by the original author Watsuki, including character design and scenario, and will be reconstructed from the first episode. Hideyo Yamamoto, director of ``Strike the Blood'' and others, will serve as director, and Liden Films, the director of ``The Heroic Legend of Arslan'' and ``Tokyo Revengers,'' will produce. Broadcast on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot ``Noitamina'' and other channels.
