Studio Ghibli becomes a subsidiary of Nippon Television; producer Toshio Suzuki says he will "dedicate to manufacturing"

It was revealed on September 21st that Studio Ghibli will become a subsidiary of Nippon Television. The announcement was made on the same day at a press conference held at Studio Ghibli Studio 1 (Koganei City, Tokyo). At the press conference, producer Toshio Suzuki said, ``Ghibli and Nippon Television have had a really long relationship.I guess everyone would be satisfied with asking Nippon Television.Ghibli will ask Nippon Television to manage it.Ghibli We are dedicated to manufacturing," he said.

Studio Ghibli began operations in June 1985 as a subsidiary of Tokuma Shoten with the aim of producing animated films by the late directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. In June 1997, it merged with Tokuma Shoten and became Tokuma Shoten/Studio Ghibli Company (later Studio Ghibli Business Headquarters). In April 2005, it started anew as Studio Ghibli, taking over Studio Ghibli's anime works and all business as Tokuma Shoten's Studio Ghibli business headquarters.
