It has been announced that "THE FIRST SLAM DUNK", the animated feature film based on Takehiko Inoue 's classic basketball manga "SLAM DUNK", will be shown again in over 380 cinemas nationwide from August 13th. It will also be shown in large format using IMAX and Dolby Cinema, and will be screened on a larger scale than when it was originally released in 2022. It was also announced that the official website will be distributing Mubichike viewing ticket bonus codes that will give you a 100 yen discount on the viewing fee for the revival screening.
The animated film was released on December 3, 2022, and had a long run until August 31, 2023. It was a huge hit, grossing approximately 15.868 billion yen and attracting approximately 10.95 million viewers. Inoue, the original author, himself directed and wrote the script. Subaru Kimura plays Hanamichi Sakuragi of the Shohoku High School basketball team, while Kamio Shinichiro plays Kaede Rukawa, Shinichiro Kamio Shugo Nakamura Ryota Miyagi, Jun Kasama plays Hisashi Mitsui, and Kenta Miyake plays Takenori Akagi. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
