Chiikawa: Winner of the Grand Prix at the Japan Character Awards

The results of the Japan Character Awards 2024, an award for the character and licensing business industry, were announced on July 3rd, with the popular manga and anime character "Chiikawa" winning the grand prize. The awards ceremony was held at the 15th Licensing Japan, Japan's largest licensing business exhibition.

The Japan Character Awards (formerly the Character & Brand of the Year) was established in 2009 to widely promote the value of the licensing business industry to society and contribute to the healthy development of the industry.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the awards, and in addition to "Chiikawa" winning the Grand Prix, "Chiikawa," Oshi no Ko" and the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series received the Character License Award, while "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" won the New Face Award. "Ichibankuji" (Bandai Spirits) won the Product Licensee Award, "Happy Set Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary" won the Promotion Licensee Award, "Sesame Street Market" won the Retail Award, and the "Pretty Cure" series was awarded the Special Selection Committee Award.
