The Blue Wolves of Mibu: Additional anime cast announced: Kenjiro Tsuda, Kengo Kawanishi, Noriaki Sugiyama, and Yuichiro Umehara

Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "The Blue Wolves of Mibu," based on the manga by Tsuyoshi Yasuda about the Shinsengumi. It has been revealed that Kenjiro Tsuda will play Shinsengumi member Nagakura Shinpachi. It was also announced that Ryota Iwasaki will play Harada Sanosuke, Kengo Kawanishi will play Yamanami Keisuke, Kikunosuke Toya will play Todo Heisuke, Noriaki Sugiyama will play Inoue Genzaburou, and Yuichiro Umehara will play Niimi Nishiki.

Also appearing in the cast will be Tomohiro Ono as Noguchi Kenji, Yu Maeda as Hirama Jusuke, Kenji Nomura as Hirayama Goro, Sayuri Sadaoka as the grandmother who lived with the main character, Nio, and Yuko Natsuyoshi as Chirinu Iroha.

The key visual, which shows the moment when the members of Shinsengumi, including the main character Nio, put on the striped haori coat for the first time, and the first promotional video were also released. As special content, a concept movie was also released, which shows the woarldview of the work, in which the members of Shinsengumi are in action, while the main theme by music composer Yuki Hayashi plays.

"The Blue Wolves of Mibu" has been serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) since 2021. Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period, it depicts the life of Shinsengumi. The story is about a boy named Nio who is honest, kind, and family-oriented, but deep in his heart he burns with justice, and meets Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Soji of the Miburo, a hated group of ronin.

The anime will be directed by Kumiko Habara known for "I'm Standing on a Million Lives," and produced by MAHO FILM. It will be broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV every Saturday at 5:30 pm from autumn 2024.
