Lookback: Box office gross exceeds 220 million yen in the first three days of release, a good start with 130,000 people attending An animated film based on Tatsuki Fujimoto 's popular manga

The film animation "Lookback" (directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama), based on the manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, known for "Chainsaw Man" and other works, opened in theaters on June 28 and recorded box-office revenues of approximately 227 million yen over three days. The film recorded an audience of approximately 135,000, and got off to a good start, ranking second in the June 28-29 movie attendance rankings (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha). The top film in the same ranking was the animated feature film "Go! Anpanman: Baikinman and the Picture Book of Lulun" (directed by Jun Kawagoe). Although "Lookback" ranked second in terms of weekend attendance, its box-office revenue was better than the 172 million yen recorded by the No. 1 film "Go! Anpanman: Baikinman and the Picture Book of Lulun.

"Lookback" was released in July 2021 on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump +" and recorded over 2.5 million views on the first day. It was selected as the No. 1 manga in the boys' category of "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022" and was also nominated for the "Manga Taisho 2022". The story is about two girls who are single-mindedly passionate about manga, but then an event occurs that shatters everything... Fujino, a fourth-grade elementary school student who serializes a four-panel manga in the student newspaper, is praised by her classmates, but her teacher tells her that he wants to publish a four-panel manga by her classmate Kyomoto, who is a school dropout.

The anime will be directed by Oshiyama, who has worked as a key staff member on "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance," "Arrietty," and "The Wind Rises," and will also be in charge of the script and character design. Studio Dorian, which Oshiyama represents, will produce the anime. The fact that Yuumi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida will play Fujino and Kyomoto, respectively, has also been a hot topic.
