The Gundam Conference Summer 2024, a press conference for the popular Gundam anime series, was held online on June 26th. No new information was announced about the long-awaited second part of the film Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash, but Bandai Namco Filmworks producer Naohiro Ogata said, "We are also working on a sequel to Hathaway. Please wait a little longer."
"Hathaway's Flash" is based on a novel published by director Yoshiyuki Tomino in 1989-1990. Set in the year 0105 of the Universal Century, it depicts Bright Noa's son Hathaway, who experienced a bitter separation during the Second Neo Zeon War, piloting a new mobile suit, XI Gundam, in a rebellion against the Earth Federation government. The anime is directed by Shukou Murase, director of "Genocidal Organ," and the first part was released in 2021.
It was announced in 2021 that the title of the second part will be "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash 'Sun (Son) of Bright' (tentative title)."
