2024 Sanrio Character Awards: Final results announced: Cinnamoroll takes first place, first 5th consecutive victory Pochacco in second place and Kuromi in third place

The final results of the Sanrio Character Popularity Poll "2024 Sanrio Character Awards" were announced on June 16th, and Cinnamoroll won first place out of a total of 90 characters, garnering approximately 5.66 million votes, achieving her first five consecutive victories. This is the second-highest record after Hello Kitty (12 consecutive wins, 1998-2009) and ties her with Pochacco (five consecutive wins, 1991-95). Although Cinnamoroll lost first place to Pochacco in the preliminary results, she regained first place in the interim results, becoming the only character to receive an overwhelming number of votes, over 5 million. The total number of votes this time, the 39th time, was approximately 57.07 million, far exceeding the previous number of approximately 44.48 million, making it the highest number ever.

In second place was Pochacco (4th place last year), which is celebrating its 35th anniversary since its debut, making it into the top two for the first time in about 28 years. In third place was Kuromi (3rd place last year), in fourth place was Pompompurin (2nd place last year), and in fifth place was Hello Kitty (5th place last year).

Members of the group "Happy Danby" made great strides, with Kerokerokeroppi (12th last year) coming in at 7th, his first appearance in the top 10 in 12 years, and Pekkle the Duck (16th last year) achieving his highest ranking in the last 30 years at 11th. Hanamaru Obake, who only just made their debut last year from the user-participation project "NEXT KAWAII PROJECT", did very well, coming in 14th on their first entry.

The Sanrio Character Awards is a public voting project for Sanrio characters that began in 1986. This year, the 39th, had the theme "Sanchu - The feeling of 'I love you' shared with you," and 90 characters were entered. Voting was accepted from April 11th to May 26th on the official website, Sanrio Online Shop, Sanrio's monthly newspaper, Ichigo Shimbun, and other sites.
