Detective Conan: Cumulative audience for the movie series exceeds 100 million Achieving the milestone with the “fastest ever” 27th work

It has been revealed that the cumulative total number of moviegoers for the "Detective Conan" anime film series has surpassed 100 million. The latest film, the 27th film, "Detective Conan: One million dollar guidepost," was released on April 12th and has attracted over 6.44 million viewers in 18 days, bringing the total number of viewers for the series to 100 million.

The film's 100 million audience numbers are the third-highest in the series, following the "Doraemon" and "Godzilla" series, but the 27th film to reach that number is the fastest in history. To commemorate this achievement, a "memorial movie" featuring famous scenes from previous theatrical releases was released on YouTube.

Original author Gosho Aoyama commented, "Congratulations and thank you for attracting 100 million moviegoers! Coincidentally, all the movie titles this year with 'One Million Dollars' are around 100 million yen, so maybe it was just destined to be that way...Huh? Over 100 million yen because of the weak yen? Don't be so stiff (laughs)."

Takayama Minami, who plays the main character, Edogawa Conan, sent a message to fans saying, "Thank you everyone for your continued enthusiastic support. Over 100 million viewers? I was stunned for a moment at this sudden, good news. It feels like we've received proof that this is truly a national anime, and I am truly moved. The Conan family continues to run thanks to everyone's love for Conan. Next year, the year after, and beyond...we will do our best and put our love into delivering a work that will make you think, 'I want to watch it again and again' and 'I want to be immersed in this world forever.' I hope you will continue to share my love for Conan with me. With gratitude for 27 works."

"Detective Conan" is a manga that depicts Conan Edogawa solving a succession of difficult cases, and began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994. The TV anime began broadcasting in 1996, and the first movie, "Detective Conan :The Time Bombed Skyscraper," was released in 1997. The 26th movie, "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine Submarine," released last year, became a hot topic as it became the first in the series to surpass 10 billion yen in cumulative box office revenue.

The latest film, "One million dollar guidepost," made a rocket start, grossing 3.35 billion yen and attracting 2.27 million viewers in the first three days of its release, surpassing the highest grossing film in the series, "Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine," which grossed 13.88 billion yen. It has been a huge hit, grossing over 9.2 billion yen in the first 18 days since its release.
